I don't want to clean... So I am going to blog :)

So.... I am completely incapable of cooking with out making my kitchen look like an absolute disaster. Seriously. It looks like the olive garden exploded in my kitchen, and all I did was make a 9x13 pan of baked ziti. And I really really really really don't want to clean this all up.. So maybe if I keep putting it off, Chris will get home and I'll say, "oh man, I am so tired, but I really need to get this apartment clean." And then I'll sigh and pick myself up off the couch, drag myself into the kitchen, and give the dishes a look like I'm going to cry. And then he'll say, "oh, baby, you just rest. You need a break- I'll take care of the kitchen.." And I'll say, "Are you sure, I mean you've been working all day too. It's ok, just let me do it." Then he'll push me back over to the couch, where I will reluctantly sit back down, pick up the remote, and turn on the Bachelor! Life's so tough with an adoring husband... :)

Back by popular demand...

Well, believe it or not, apparently people actually read my blog! I had given up writing posts, since I never seem to have anything interesting to say. However, because I value certain friendships, I am re-committing to keep this blog somewhat current!

It's about midnight right now, and I'm up making cupcakes :) As most of you know, I have not-so-recently discovered that I may want to do something with my life besides rent cars, and I'm trying to start up a cupcake business. For the next two years (while we're living in Utah) I plan on running the business solely from a website (which should be completed by the end of January) www.somethingswanky.com (or, if you want to look at it before Feb. 1, go to www.somethingswanky.webs.com). And tomorrow, I am actually meeting with a couple of friends who have expressed interest in me making them a cupcake wedding cake!!!! How cool is that?? I'm pretty stoked, but really really nervous too.  I'm pretty sure they'll let me do it because I offered to do it as a wedding gift free of charge, but I really want to make something that they like a lot too, you know? I've been working a lot with fondant for the first time (which I hate, it's as gross as eating playdough- and I don't like to put anything on a cupcake that you can't eat!) since it seems to pretty popular for wedding cakes, and it's pretty easy to work with (even if it's not so easy to eat).  I'm hoping they like my "signature" cupcake better though- which is a cupcake dipped in white chocolate with a butter cream frosting topping. It is delicious. And you can put all sorts of yummy toppings on the frosting, seriously- it'll be the best cupcake you've ever eaten. I guarantee it! But it's not as elegant looking as the fondant. ANYWAY, I'm making some samples of both kinds. I'm also going to google some pics of other cupcake wedding cakes for them to look at, and if they find one they like better, I'll just try to duplicate it. So anyhow, the point is that it's a really great opportunity and I'm really excited that they are interested- even if it is just for a free wedding cake :) Here is a pic of some that I really liked...
