Rock-A-Bye, Baby.

The craziest thing just happened. I was trying to put Emma down for her nap, and she was not feeling super happy about it. She just kept crying and crying no matter which way I held her, whether she was swaddled or not-- so I started singing to her! --which I never do, I'm really not a big singer anyway, and singing to babies has always felt really awkward to me-- and she totally stopped mid-wail, closed her eyes, and was slumbering peacefully within minutes! haha, the only song I could think of was Rock-A-Bye, baby-- which is really a horrible song to sing to a baby. But I kept singing it over and over until I was finally able to also come up with "Twinkle, Twinkle" and "I'm Trying to be Like Jesus." Looks like I might need to invest in a children's song book! I know this probably sounds super obvious to you-- singing to babies? Duh, Ashton. But seriously, we didn't do a whole lot of baby singing (that I can remember) in our house growing up and so it just feels weird! But, hey! I'll keep doing it as long as it keeps working.

....puh-lease keep working.

My mom used to sing "Babes in the Woods" to us and we loved it even though it's kind of creepy. You should get Joy School music and Happy Happy, Joy Joy! I still love those songs.
