Happy Birthday...to ME!

Well, it's not the most flattering picture, but it's the only birthday moment we captured on film- and with my family living so far away, it's all I've got to show them of my big day :) And anyone who knows me, KNOWS that my birthday is always BIG DAY...to me anyway! Thanks for everybody who made it so special!!!

10 Things We've Learned About Being Married:

1. Sometimes making him happy is more important than divulging all the details.
2. My wife is always right.
3. Marriage before money. Always.
4.  In some situations, it doesn't really matter who's way you do it. It'll get done one way or the other. You don't always have to be RIGHT.
5. Becoming better individuals makes for a better couple.
6. Avoid the words "always" and "never."
7. Never be too tired to say "I love you" sincerely.
8. He's not cheating on me. It's just football season.
9. Find joy in doing something you hate to do because now your spouse doesn't have to.
10. Have other friends that are important to both of you as individuals and as a couple.

ok, So this is the actual view from our room. Breathtaking, huh?

Regardless, we had an awesome time in Marco Island with my parents and my second brother, Keaton. Nationwide provided the EXCELLENT food as well as some good old fashion "fun in the sun." I kick started my vacation with an amazing pedicure from the on-site spa. It was supposed to be a mani-pedi for mom and me, but when we found out that only one of us could go, mom gave it to me!

The Sunshine State

So guess what! I figured out how to post pictures! And this is the view from our hotel of the beautiful and exotic Marco Island. Ok, so actually I'm lying. Chris and I are still stuck at the airport (for another 2 hours-if the plane is on time) waiting for my parents to fly in so we can all go the the resort together. So really I haven't even stepped foot outside of the airport  and I have no idea what it looks like outside right now. Although, I have to admit, I am really hoping that Florida holds something a little better to offer me on this trip besides the nauseating salmon and teal colored buildings I remember from the Florida trips of my childhood. On one of our trips (to disney world maybe?) we were stuck in traffic in the back of a disgusting taxi cab with NO ac forEVER in the FL humidity. Ever since then, I've associated this great state with the need to puke. :) Well, hopefully I'll more exciting updates in the next couple of days and some fun pictures!!!!

Awake and really not wanting to be...

So it's about 4:00am and I'm out here on our living room couch posting  a blog. Pretty sweet right? Every night I wake up about this time, and  I am completely unable to breathe through my nose- allergies and all that jazz. Most nights I just get through it and fall back asleep. Tonight it's pretty bad though, and I might kill Chris if he tries to cuddle up to me one more time and I can't breathe, so I thought it would be best for everyone if I just got out of bed and tried to work through this on my own.

Which brings me here...blogging in the middle of the night...  And I'm blowing my nose like a freaking machine gun! How is Chris not waking up??

So on to other things... My dad's company is footing some of the bill for Chris and I to tag along with my parents on a vacation this summer to Marco Island! (...if I knew how to work blogs I'd put a picture of Marco Island right here... note to self: schedule another blogging tutorial with Shanna) We are so stoked! We're leaving at 6am on Tuesday and meeting my parents and one of my brothers in Fort Myers, FL. It is going to be some desperately needed time off for both me and Chris. Hopefully it will be 4 days of lounging on the beach, eating good food, and catching up on some of the new releases at night. It's  a little funny that my family likes to go see movies while we're on vacation- I mean, we can do that at home! But we wait until we're on some awesome vacation and THEN we go to the movie theater. Not that I mind- I just think it's funny. Anyway, we can't wait, and I am so grateful to my parents for letting us come along! Chris and I are both crazy workaholics right now, and if my parents had not scheduled this vacation, I can guarantee you that Chris and I would not take one this year at all.

But... I think our work situation is another blog for another day. My allergies are finally starting to give way (after about 10 shots of nose spray- the good stuff, you know, the kind you get addicted to?) and I've got to get up for work tomorrow. So I'm heading back to bed and you will hear from me again tomorrow!

....who am I kidding? I'm pretty sure Shanna is the only one who reads this blog. :)
(I love you Shanna!)

Is this thing working?

Good grief...how complicated can this blog thing be? Has everyone else but me figured out how to use it? I got home at about 7:30 tonight and figured I'd take a quick look at this thing and get my page up and going in a couple of minutes. Well, here I am, 9:21pm, making my first post and hoping it turns out right! I'm a true blue facebooker- have been for four years now- so this blogging thing is a big change for me! Wish me luck...here I go!
