In a Nutshell...

As you may know, the little addition to our family that we had been planning on came a little bit early. Emma Yvonne was born on June 2, 2010 9:53pm weighing in at 5 lbs 14 oz and stretching into 19 full inches.

I woke up on Tuesday morning with some serious abdominal and back pain and was admitted into Labor and Delivery at Utah Valley for preeclampsia at 8:00am. They decided to induce almost immediately after I was admitted. I labored for about 36 hours (including 4 hours of pushing-- my stupid contractions were never less than 5 minutes apart!!). Emma graced us with her presence just in the nick of time and I narrowly escaped the C-section that had been looming so closely ahead of me once the doctor realized Emma wasn't going to change her posterior position.

After a couple of days in the hospital, we're home and basically all is well. Mom's in town taking care of me, thank goodness! --and Emma is doing stellar except for a yucky case of jaundice. We have to keep her in one of those phototherapy beds, and we're all just miserable not being able to hold and cuddle her whenever we want to. Stupid jaundice. Hopefully we'll be done with the treatments soon and Emma will be all better.

Here are a few pics we've managed to take, but hopefully I'll get some more up soon that my mom has on her camera. But for now, here you go!

You must be super woman! I can't imagine 36 hours of labor and 4 hours of pushing. I hope you have a speedy recovery
